The Northern State Hospital
Once filled with the "insane" and their caregivers, the former asylum is now home to abandoned rooms, invading vines, the textures and colors of decay, and the feeling of ghosts. Formerly known as the Northern State Asylum, it housed as many as 2700 patients who were "treated" with inulin coma therapy, shock treatments and transorbital lobotomies. It closed in 1973 and largely left to the whims of nature.
